Thank you for using Share Music! This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our iOS application and its related extensions (iMessage, Share Extension).

1. Information We Collect

We collect a minimal amount of information to provide and improve our service. We do not collect personally identifiable information like your name, email address, or physical address.

a) Information Collected Automatically

• Device Country Code: We collect your device's two-letter country code (e.g., 'US', 'DE') based on your device's locale settings. This is used to fetch and provide market-specific streaming service links for shared songs, ensuring that links open correctly and reliably in your region. This code is stored as part of the song's metadata in our database and is not used to identify you personally.
• Anonymous User ID: When you first use the app, we generate a random, anonymous unique identifier (a UUID). This ID is not linked to your real-world identity but allows us to associate your shared songs and preferences with your instance of the app.
• Preferred Streaming Service: We store your selected preferred music streaming service (e.g., Spotify, Apple Music) to enhance your experience when opening music links.
• Sharing History: To provide the "Shared By You" and "Shared With You" features, we store a record of the songs you share and the songs you receive. This history is linked to your anonymous User ID.
• Song Metadata: When you share a song, we collect metadata about that song, such as its title, artist, artwork, and public links for various streaming services. We also store whether a song is explicit and its type (e.g., "Song", "Album", "Artist").

b) Information Collected by Third-Party Services

We use third-party services to help us operate and improve the app. These services may collect data automatically.

• Firebase (Google): We use Firebase to power our app's backend, including our database (Firestore) and for analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase). Google Analytics helps us understand how users engage with our app by collecting data such as device information, OS version, IP addresses (for general location), and in-app activity. This data is aggregated and anonymized.
• Meta (Facebook): We also use the Facebook SDK for analytics purposes to understand user engagement and the effectiveness of our marketing efforts.

c) Information for Analytics and Advertising

With your explicit consent, we may collect your device's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA). When you first launch the app, you will be presented with the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt, which allows you to either "Allow" or "Ask App Not to Track".

• If you Allow: We will collect the IDFA and share it with our analytics partners (Google and Meta). This enables us to gather more accurate, aggregated data about user behavior and helps us to deliver personalized advertising.
• If you Ask App Not to Track: We will not collect or share your IDFA. Our analytics will operate in a more limited, non-personalized mode.

Your choice does not affect your ability to use any feature of the app. You can change your tracking preference at any time in your device's Settings app under Privacy & Security > Tracking.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• To Provide Core App Functionality: To create universal song links, display your sharing history, and open links in your preferred music app, tailoring these links to your geographical region for optimal compatibility.
• To Personalize Your Experience: To remember your preferred streaming service.
• To Improve Our Service: To analyze usage trends, identify bugs, and enhance the user experience.
• To Maintain Security: To protect our services and our users.
• To Measure and Provide Advertising: With your consent, to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns and to deliver personalized ads that may be more relevant to you. Advertising may be presented to users on a free tier of the application.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information with any third parties for marketing purposes.

Your information may be shared as follows:

• With Service Providers: We share data with Google as part of our use of the Firebase platform to operate our app. You information is also shared with our partners at MusicFetch.io in order to create Universal Links for you to consome and share.
• For Legal Reasons: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.

4. Data Retention

We retain your anonymous user ID and associated sharing history as long as you use the application. This allows your "Shared By You" and "Shared With You" lists to persist.

5. Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the app or on our App Store page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
